Frequently asked questions

First, to leave Australia legally, you will need to switch to a Bridging Visa with travel rights. Provide evidence of your travel plans along with a submission of the purpose and why your spouse is not accompanying you. During your time apart, you should gather evidence showing that both of you are maintaining regular communication (e.g., messages or video call records).

If possible, visit your spouse’s family and take photos together to demonstrate the social aspect of your relationship. When returning to Australia, ensure that your Incoming Passenger Card includes your spouse's information (as further evidence of your commitment.)
